Florence nearby town to stay

We are planning next year's Tuscany trip, wanting to know if anyone has suggestions on where would be a good base right outside Florence. We plan on having a car to explore the country, thus need to have a hotel/B&B with free parking. We also will visit Florence, thus a convenient public transportation connection into Florence center would be helpful.

Any suburb sections or small towns outside Florence fit in the picture?

Pensione Bencista at Fiesole fits the bill, a glorious hotel, beautiful views, just on the outskirts of the village and relatively close to a bus stop for the number 7 bus into Florence city centre. Fiesole itself also seriously beautiful with lots to see and some good restaurants. To get around in the car you have to go down the hill and through the Florence suburbs but it's relatively easy to get out to the A1 and even across to the Chiantigiana (SS 222).

Have a look at the reviews for Villa il Paradisino, in a suburb 10 minutes from Florence. You can park the car and take the train into Florence.
