Can parents with two small kids skip lines in Florence?

Dear friends:

We plan to visit Florence for three days, from May 23rd to 25th. We have two kids: one three years old, the other 7 months. I am aware of the long cues outside Uffizi and Academia Gallery, but am wondering if parents with small kids can skip the lines.

Thanks for our little son, we were fortunate to skip the cues in the Vatican museum, the Louvre in Paris, and the Van Gough Museum in Amsterdam. They all have a quick entrance for parents with small kids. Do the museums in Florence do the same?

Thanks a lot for your responses.

Pyswang, no one skips the line at the Uffizi or Accademia. Sometimes holders of the Firenze Card can skip the lines, but it all depends on the whim of the guy/gal at the door.

You can book an entry time, and then you can go in at that time without having to wait in a long queue for tickets. There is an extra charge of €4 for this. The web site sometimes has problems, so it is best to phone. The agents speak English and you do not have to quote a card when booking. From UK, the number is 00 39 05 529 4883

Holders of a Firenze Card are supposed to be able to skip the ticket queue.

You can make advanced reservations for those two that mean you shouldn't have to wait more than 10-15 mins:

You might also consider the Firenze Card or Amici cards, which ensure you skip the main line, although as Artviva says you might have to wait for a bit if it is exceptionally busy, but nothing like waiting in the ordinary lines.
