Is Porta al Prato a good area to stay?

Hi everyone,

My husband and I are going to Florence for the first time in a few months and are looking at staying in an apartment in Porta al Prato. Does anyone know if this is a nice, safe neighbourhood? Or have any comments regarding the area?

Thank you for your help.

It's a safe, but not particularly interesting, neighborhood (to our minds, at least). It's also either at the edge of the centro storico or just outside it ... and the walk from Porta al Prato isn't terribly visually stimulating. On the other hand, if you want a slice of Florentine life, you'd certainly have it there, because mostly the people who venture to that part of town are those who live there.

We hope this helps.
