this is a post i have put in italy forum but i have not received replies. :) i'm posting here again, hopefully to get suggestions/help on the florence part of my trip. i'd like to go to siena and pisa and i've read that you can do day trips from florence. someone also suggested to spend a night in siena. i'm not sure how to plan my trip so posting again the question here. thanks everyone -----
Thanks again. So now, I've more or less firmed up my itinerary and want to know your thoughts
Dec 26. Arrive rome at 7am
Dec 27. Whole day rome
Dec 28. Florence
Dec 29. Siena (can I do a day trip from florence? Or is an overnight doable.)
Dec 30. Pisa (looking at a day trip from florence, is this okay?)
Dec 31. Florence
Jan 1. Leave for venice in morning. Whole day venice
Jan 2. Burano in morning, leave for milan in late afternoon
Jan 3. Leave for singapore (SQ doesnt fly from venice, hence the need to go to Milan for the return flight)
Now i have a few more questions. I really cant figure out how to arrange the florence part of my trip. I want to visit siena and pisa as day trips, but not sure how to do it. Chester9cat, maybe you can suggest on how I can do it given my limited time? :)
What do i expect for an NYE in florence? Or is there somewhere else you suggest for NYE, at least near florence? On the next day, what should i expect for my train travel to venice on jan 1? Will there be crowds? How early should i book my ticket? I read in some posts that tickets can be available 4 months ahead, is this true?
And lastly, when we arrive in milan, is there anything else we can do in the evening? Is the duomo open? When I was there the last time, it was undergoing some renovation so was only able to view it from outside. Or any other suggestion just so we maximize our last evening in Italy?(really want to maximize.)
Thanks so much and looking forward to your tips.
