Christmas Markets in Lucca

Has anyone spent Christmas Eve or Christmas day in Lucca? We were thinking of traveling from Florence to visit and perhaps go to Christmas mass there, and am wondering if the market in Piazza San Michele will be open either day, or if its worth visiting anyway? I've seen that the market runs through January 6th, but am assuming the tents will not be open on the 25th?

Years we've been there, the stalls in the (very modest) Christmas Market in Piazza San Michele were open on Christmas Eve until late afternoon, not at all on Christmas day. If you wanted to come for Christmas Day Mass and then have a meal, would strongly advise reservations in the restaurant you choose.

There is also ice skating - lovely - in the largest piazza, Napoleone.
