Do I lose much scenically if I travel by train from Bologna to Lucca as opposed to the auto?

The fast train between Florence and Bologna goes under most of the mountains in a long tunnel.

But even in a car this is not a spectacular route. You need to go further south for the really beautiful countryside.

I just did this trip. The quickest route is likely to be via regional train anyway, changing at Prato. The views are terrific.
