Pisa for 2 nights in July

July will be my 10th Wedding anniversary and I am considering a surprise short trip to Pisa, as this is somewhere my wife has always wanted to visit.

Due to other commitments around that time, we would probably be arriving on a Wednesday lunchtime and departing on a Friday evening, giving us 2 1/2 days to explore the ciity.

As it is a special ocassion, I am looking for somewhere nice to stay, and would welcome recommendations for hotels, acitivities and restaurants!

The budget is generous, but not unlimited...!!

Many thanks,

Sidicks

What about staying in Lucca and plan a day trip to Pisa? Lucca is much more romantic!

Thanks, we will look into this.

Are there any hotels you would recommend in Lucca?

Thanks for the messages so far - based on what people have said, we have decided to stay in Florence and spend an afternoon in Pisa, instead.

I've posted a thread in the Florence forum asking for hotel recommendations, but please feel topost any thoughts here too!

Thanks

I think that is a much better choice. An afternoon in Pisa will suffice IMO...

I agree, staying in Florence is a much better idea. Pisa is very small and once you have seen the tower you could be a bit stuck for things to do. Florence is a beautiful city with many sights to see. As you are staying for such a short time you may find that you have so much to see in Florence that you do not make it to Pisa.

I disagree (of course ;oP). You can easily fill 2 days in Pisa. Here are some walks to do in the city:

Besides Pisa is an easy city to live, with many locals and events, and close to the sea, if you want to go to the beach for a few hours.
