Tuscan Coast Villa Holiday - Suggestions ?

We would like to rent a villa on the Tuscan coast next year for our holiday, but would also like to be close to villages and towns, so that we do not have to drive everywhere on days that we are resting, but equally be close enough to somewhere for a few days out.

Can anyone suggest and towns or villages by the sea, that we could look at renting for next summer?

Best area to the sea in tuscany it is Donoratico (Marina di Castagneto Carducci)beautyful beachs and winery all around(SASSICAIA;ORNELLAIA;VERMENTINO DI BOLGHERI)and with 1hour and 38 minuts you'll be any where you like to be in tuscany by superstrada o autostrada and you are 1 hour from Pisa airport.Good luck

I agree with io62, Donoratico is a great area. To me, it's some of the most beautiful landscape of the whole of Tuscany - you have the sea, the countryside, medieval hamlets, the vineyards and olive groves all in one place. It's gorgeous and really so much more beautiful than Viareggio - it just doesn't compare (sorry, silvietta!).

Castagneto Carducci & Bolgheri are wine towns with great food to match their wine just a couple of km inland, then you have the area near the beach town of San Vincenzo where you can find beautiful beaches that are less built up near Baratti and Populonia. The spa town of Venturina is close by too. Lovely Campiglia Marittima is another medieval town slightly inland worth looking at. From the sea you'll be looking straight at Isola d'Elba, which you can visit easily even as a daytrip from San Vincenzo or Piombino. I can gush on for hours about it, but if you need more specific info I'd be happy to continue...!
