We plan to visit Italy in 2014.

Our thought is to fly into Pisa: spend the day; then take a train into Florence that evening.

Does that sound feasible?

Are there lockers (for our luggage) at the Pisa airport or train station>

Thank you.

From the airport, your options

No lockers at Pisa Central train station, but there is a manned left luggage place, you will need to show your passport, which will be photocopied and attached to your luggage. The copy is returned to you when you pick up your bags. It is €5 for the first five hours and then a small charge each additional hour.

Pisa is compact and you can easily walk around the main sights. It is about a 15-20 walk to the Leaning Tower, the Field of Miracles etc.

Buy your train tickets in Italy, you will be buying a regional train ticket that becomes valid once you time/date stamp it in a small machine near/on the train platforms.

You can easily reach the station by bus (Lam Rossa), then leave your luggage, spend the day in Pisa, back to the central train station and off to Florence.
