Restaurant for lunch on the way from Pisa Airport to Siena

Our flight lands at lunchtime and we have a 2 hour drive down to Siena but cannot check in until 4pm so we want to stop somewhere nice for lunch on the way. We will be a family of 9 including two small children.

Ideally I would like to find somewhere where we will not have trouble parking (our cars will be packed with luggage) and that is not too far off our route (the Pisa-Firenze superstrada). It doesn't need to be anything fancy - a decent salad or pizza would be great.

Thanks.

Firstly, I would suggest you avoid the Pisa-Firenze and Firenze-Siena superstrade. They were built a long time ago and are substandard: narrow lanes, sharp curves, very heavy traffic. You would do better to take ordinary roads. From Pisa through Pontedera and towards Empoli, then SP429 to Poggibonsi, and on the old SS2 main road to Siena.

If you do this, you could stop off at Certaldo for lunch.

I concur with above post no 1. We drove the reverse route Siena to Pisa airport via Poggibonsi etc - very pleasant easy drive, less traffic than superstada.
