Renting a car while staying in San Gimignano?

My husband and I will be renting a car and staying in San Gimignano for 3 nights starting March 26th. We wanted to rent a car so that we could explore Tuscany and enjoy the scenery. We would like to do a wine tasting tour, visit Siena and possibly Florence. I know that parking costs are expensive and that it's difficult to get close parking to these areas. So my question is, do you think renting a car is worth the money? I really appreciate any help.

There is a cheaper lot on the north side of the town. If I remember its about around 15 euro per day. Some hotels inside the walls have a discount arrangement with some lots around the walls.

Thanks so much that's good to know! I have heard many people say that it's nice to explore Tuscany by car, which is why we really wanted to rent one.

You wont be disappointed. Use goggle maps and you can see the lot I am talking about it is on the Via della Giacchiaia. The street view feature of the town is quite cool as well.
