Best way to get to Siena from Roma Termini on Sat Oct 1st?

We (2 active adults) are staying in a Roma B&B close to the Termini and will depart Saturday Oct 1st for check in at our Siena Villa. Are there trains that travel from the Termini to Siena on Saturdays? Anyone have train website links and/or info. I thank you in advance.

Trains go from Rome to Siena every day of the year, but you have to change trains at Chiusi. See www,trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html

thank you. a couple more quick questions...do you recommend the trenitalia and sena bus option (with change in chiusi) or just take the sena bus the entire route? also, what are the buses like? we will have our luggage for 2 week trip. is there area in bottom of bus to put luggage or do you have to carry it onto bus with you?

If you go by Trenitalia, you go by train all the way, but you have to change trains at Chiusi.

The buses from Siena to Rome go to Tiburtina in Rome, from where you have to take the metro of other transport. The buses take luggage underneath.

The bus we took was very clean but no bathrooms. It's a 3 hour bus ride, so plan ahead. :) Plenty of room for luggage under the bus.

The bus leaves from Tiburtina, so you'd need the metro, bus or taxi to get you over there.

The train would leave from Termini, but you'd have to change trains along the way to get to Siena.

It depends on whether you want to change trains or take the metro, bus or taxi to Tiburtina. It would be a short taxi ride - we taxied to Tiburtina from Piazza Navona since we had an early bus to catch.

The bus schedule can be found at http://www.sena.it/ The times aren't up for 10/1 yet, but they're up for the Saturday before. The times are 0800 -1105, 1030 - 1345, 1230 - 1535, 1400 - 1705 and 1530 - 1835. I'd think they'd be the same for the next Saturday.

If you're going to a villa outside of Siena, you would get off at the train station (take 20 minutes off of the arrival time) and get a taxi to your villa. That's what we did, there's a taxi stand at the train station. It was very easy!

My two cents - if I were staying near Termini and not staying in Siena proper, I would take the train even though it involves a change rather than schlep over the other station to catch the bus, and don't get me on a 3 hr bus trip with no WC stops.

thank you so much! your guidance is extremely helpful. yes, our villa is outside of siena (~5k). are the taxis reasonably priced and "honest?"

thank you so much for your thoughts. our preference is to take the train the entire way since our roma b&b is so close to the Termini. yes, our villa is outside of siena ~5k. sounds like we can easily grab a taxi at the siena train station for transport to our villa. right?

Yes, the taxi stand is easy to find at the train station. We paid 40 Euro for a 20-25 minute ride to Castellina, so your fare should be much less since you're just outside of Siena.

The link in #1 won't work if you cut and paste. Here's a link that will:

http://www.fsitaliane.it/homepage_en.html

Or a corrected link:

http://www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html
