Where to stay in Tuscany

We have 3 days in Tuscany area but don't have a clue as to where abouts to stay (area/city) - we would like somewhere with nice restaurants/bars. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you are looking for a smaller town than Florence or Siena, maybe you could consider Montepulciano: The town is located at 15 min by car from the A1 Rome-Florence, and at about 20/30 minutes from the train station of Chiusi ( also on the main line Rome-Florence). The town in itself worths at least one full day, the second day you could easily reach Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Montalcino, the Abbey of Sant'Antimo or go to Cortona and/or Arezzo. Lots of restaurants are available in town, and everything is within an easy reach on foot. The surrounding countryside is the made by the rolling hills that you can see in all the postacards of Tuscany.

You could consider Poppi or Stia in the upper Casentino easy reachable by train from Arezzo.

They are not famous like Montepulciano but they are very pretty, the life runs slow there.
