Restricted Zone for cars

Hello,

We will be driving to Siena from Castiglion Fiorentino for a day trip. I know we are not supposed to drive in some areas - just a little worried that we might wander into those areas by mistake. Are they well marked? In any case, we plan to park the car in one of those parking lots and walk into town... but still worried being first time visitors to Italy, we might go where we are not supposed to! :P

Thanks!

Siena's easy. Coming in from Castiglion Fiorentino I guess you'll be on the Bettolle / Siena superstrada. Follow signs for Firenze / Tangenziale and then get off at Siena Sud. From this exit, all the car parks are signposted clearly with number of places free ("libero") indicated. I always find Parcheggio Il Campo the easiest to access. It is just inside the city walls at Porta Tufi but it's right outside the ZTL. Follow the clearly marked signs to the car park and you won't have any problems. The car park is CTV'd, covered and fairly secure. Take your ticket with you and pay at the machine when you return.

If you follow the signs to a parking lot, you are fine; but otherwise do not try to drive within the walls.

Thank you fellow travellers for your help! We'll just have to remember to pay attention to the road signs instead of gawking at the beautiful sights!

Is exiting Il Campo carpark straightforward (is there more than one exit, etc) as i obviously dont want to drive into ZTL by mistake/wrong turn. Thanks for advice

There is one exit from this car park. As you come out, look right up the street and you will see a ZTL sign, so turn left.
