Convertible car hire from Perugia airport?

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences of convertible car rental from perugia airport?

We are looking at hiring a renault megane cabriolet but the wording 'or similiar' worries me into thinking that we could end up with a peugeot 206 (or similiar) which would be impractical for 2 adults and 2 children.

I don't think there is any rental company that guarantees you will receive a particular make or model of car. They all say "or similar".

(Except when paying large amounts to rent a special car, such as a Ferrari.)

I have often experienced rental car agencies in Italy substituting different vehicles than the one reserved. Always an "upgrade". The "upgrade" has always been a less than pleasant experience and usually an undesireable vehicle. Once reserved a convertible out of Milan airport. Upon pick-up was informed that no convertibles were available, but that an "upgrade" was being provide. The "upgrade" turned out to be a rather pedestrian station wagon, under-powered, older model that had trouble keeping up with traffic on the highways. That was the worst "upgrade" received....but not the only one. Good luck.
