snow in swiss in october

Hi dears,

where can we see and walk on snow in swiss by october 1st week 2018.

I plan to use STP and it seems Jungfraujoch option is only covered for 25% by STP.

I enter swiss from italy via chiasso ( lugano side ) then towards lucerne.

exit via geneva to annecy.

Assuming you mean SwitzerLAND ....

In Switzerland you have a few places accessible by mountain train or cable cars for an all year snow and ice experience. After this hot and dry year, conditions late September are not ideal, not much snow left at those places and no snowfall expected the next week.

Basically you can chose between Klein Titlis (roughly 3'000m altitude, not far from Lucerne), Jungfraujoch (3'500+m altitude), Klein Matterhorn (3'900+m, above Zermatt), or Glacier 3'000 (also around 3'000m).

The sites have webcams that allow to have an idea on how conditions are - https://www.titlis.ch/en/live/webcams - https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/live/webcams/ - https://www.zermatt.ch/en/Webcams - https:/…webcams

And yes, trip up Jungfraujoch is the most expensive for STP holders (only 25% on almost 200 CHF compared to 50% on the other places with less expensive access).

This time of the year is not ideal for finding snow in the Alps, especially considering this year extreme weather conditions. There are other places with snow in the Alps (in fact very many) but access subject to mountain climbing experience, equipment and guidance.

If I had to chose now I would most probably opt for Klein Matterhorn (almost 4'000m), then Jungfraujoch.
