cost of food, eg cup of coffee, sandwich in switzerland

Trying to decide how much monery I need in Switzerland, and I need to know how much it costs to buy a cup of coffee and a light snack, such as a roll or sandwich. Advice on good cheaper venues appreciated. Will be in Valais, Bernese Oberland and Graubunden areas.

Hi, in restaurants, you'll probably pay at least 15 CHF. There are "fast food" kebab places, etc. where you can get a gyros and drink for 7/8 CHF or so. You can stop into most supermarkets and get a sandwick and a drink for about the same.

It's hard to advise as to places to eat when we don't know which towns you'll be visiting.

The best places to go are the Co-op and Migros supermarkets you can buy ready made sandwiches, salads and cakes or use their self service restuarants.

Prices are comparible to the UK for these smaller items.

A cup of coffee in a cafe is a little more expensive but of a higher quality.

Takeaway coffee is widely available.
