swiss pass discount

if iam travelling from stuttgart to any city in switzerland and i have a swiss pass/travel card, then can i get discount on the swiss side of the journey?

In that case do i have to get the pass before booking the tickets or can i book the tickets online stating that i have the pass and later on buy the pass once i am in germany?

I am sorry if my question is confusing.

Thanks

You need a ticket from Stuttgart to the Swiss border station. If you are travelling with a Swiss Pass you do not need a ticket, the pass is your ticket. You will need to make sure it is validated for your first day of travel. I have always found that all I have to do is write the date in and sign it.

Hope that answers your question

hi swisslover,

Thanks for your help. Just one clarification.

I can book a train ticket online from stuttgart to a border town now before starting from home, and once i reach germany i can buy a swiss pass and then proceed on my journey.

correct me if i am wrong

Thanks

Yes, i think so, but check the Swiss Rail site at www.sbb.ch and look for the page on international visitors to be certain

You don't need to book any tickets now - just buy them when you are tehre.

The next border point (with direct connections from Stuttgart) is Schaffhausen.

Not that I am aware of. There are special discounted tickets but they are only I think available for short periods. You would be safe just buying the tickets at the station on the day you want to travel.

not automatically - if there are discounted tickets left you can get them , but their number is very limited.

No flexibility, no change etc.?

If you are not alone and use regional trains only, you save much more using the Baden-Württemberg-Ticket (28 € for up to 5 persons) than with advance discounted tickets. And on this route the ICE is not much faster than regional trains.

Buy a ticket to a border and when you are on a train show your rail pass AND your ticket. If you go through basel, buy a ticket to Basel SBB train station.

if i buy the lander ticket then i presume i can travel upto basel bad bf or basel, after that will i need to get down and change trains or can i continue on the same train with my pass?

should i choose a different route ( we plan to travel to lauterbrunen)

as far as i know the lander tickets would not be valid on the long distance express trains.

thanks
