ideas needed for family trip in April 2011

We are planning a family (mum, dad, 12 and 10 year old) trip to Switzerland in late March/early April. We will be travelling by train from France or Germany. Looking for ideas for good places to visit. Have stayed in Interlaken a few times many years ago and loved Bernese Oberland - would love to take children there but concerned too much will be closed / weather will be too poor. What do you think?

We are from far north of Scotland so not looking for hot weather - just not too much rain/cold.

What suggestions woudl you make for places to visit?

I suggest that you stay a few days in Basel or Zürich (coming from France or Germany, they are on your route),it will be great for the kids to look around and everything will be open.

14.03 is Fasnacht in Basel, the three Sundays after , there will be drummers and pipers alll over the city in the evening.

Then move on to Grindelwald or even higher up to Wengen. it is early for the season, early for Spring also. But all the more for it. You will enjoy the mountains in peace.

have a look at this site for ideas:

Ther weather is unpredictable of course, but most propably very wet almost like the north of Scotland :-). ( it rained evry day when we were in the outer hebrides)

I saw in the Forum that you are also considering Greece. The weather is going to be better there, just keep in mind that there are lots of strikes all the time.

I hope this helps to get you started.
