traveling for 4 days in may

We are a family with 2 kids aged 3, 9 and parents in their late 60s.

Any suggestions for which place to go, things to do.Ideally avoid cities.

We will be keen on a place to relax and do little bit of sight seeing and maybe some adventure sport for us, in our late 30s and our 9 year old.

The kind of activities you list are normally done in the mountains. The problem is that May is not a great time for the mountains as the winter ski season is over, and most of the hotels and restaurants shut down for two months or 6 weeks until the summer season starts at the end of June. Also many of the cable cars etc are not working. Can you re-think when you will come here? If you could make your trip in late June or September you will find what you are looking for.

If not then you should focus on one resort that will have some things available. It would have to be one of the larger ones - Zermatt or St Moritz for example.

Or you could base yourselves on a lake. Thun and Spiez on lake Thun are lovely and Montreux on Lac Léman is wonderful. Down by the lakes May is a glorious time to visit - flowers, flowering trees etc - and everything will be open.

Hi SumiRajoo,

It would also be helpful to know where you are travelling from and travelling to. If we knew that, we could help you find a nice spot that's not too far out of your way.

Have fun as you plan!

'am in still planning with the trip nothing is fixed yet. All open. We are Indians and will fly in from Mumbai. It's our parents' first trip to Europe and want them to see a slice of life and culture there.

Was looking at landing into Paris , do some museum hopping and then move on to Switzerland for a relaxed stay, do some bit of sight seeing depending on where's good to go in May.

Then travel on to Rome or Vienna or prague.

pls suggest.

Hi SumiRajoo,

All three - Rome / Vienna / Prague, are beautiful cities to visit and it is very difficult to suggest only one. Perhaps you could specify the airport from which you will be flying back to Mumbai ?

These cities have a lot of history, palaces, monuments, museums, castles and it will depend on your own preferences ( taking into account your small kids and parents ). But do keep a minimum of 4 nights for your visit to enable you to really enjoy the attractions.

Have fun.
