How to change platforms?

We( couple with a todler) have to change trains at Lausanne from platform 5 to platform 3 in 6 mins . Is it possible ? How to change platforms . I am not aware of the system . We will have one carry on case with wheels and a stroller .

Yes it's possible, there will steps and/or a ramp either under the platforms just walk down them and up to your platform. although Lausanne is a large station it is possible to make the change in the time you have. Unless you have reserved seats on a particulat train the trains run half hourly or hourly and you can always catch the next one. There are shops and refreshments facilities at the station.

the ramp down connects to the tunnel which links all the platforms. There is also a lift - two in fact per platform. Since most people use the ramp there shouldn't be a problem with the lift.

You will have a very short walk in the tunnel and the platforms are clearly signposted. Then up again either with the lift or the ramp... Normal connecting times at Lausanne are 5 mins and I have never had a problem with this. It isn't a bad idea though to be standing next to the door when the train stops. Lots and lots of people get off in lausanne and sometimes it can take a minute just to get off the train...
