Jungfraujoch

Hi Everyone, We are a group of women traveling to Switzerland and staying in Lucerne for 4 days in Sept. We are thinking of doing one excursion up into the Alps but don't know which one. There seems to be so many choices. Is it possible and feasible to travel from Lucerne to Grendwald then take the ride up to Jungfraujoch all in one day? Sounds like a lot. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ann,

It is technically possible to do Jungfrau in one day, but I would really not recommend it.

The weather can change very quickly in the alps. It will take about a two hour ride to get you to Interlaken. From there you need to take a train to Wengen and then begin the excursion to Jungfrau. If I were you, I would look at the excursions from Lucerne... Rigi, and/or Titlis. Please note: As of Sept. 1 Pilatus will be closed since they are replacing the system!

It only takes abt. 40 minute train to get to Engelberg, where you can pick up the excursion to Titlis.

Do spend substantial time in the old city. Jesuit Church is a masterpiece of Jesuit History.

Really beautiful church! Lovely small city. Great choice for the four of you! Enjoy. Any more questions let us know. Have a great trip!
