We are getting off a riverboat in Basel late in November. We have three nights (Sat-Sun-Mon) and then fly home very early in the morning. We realize that many things are closed Sun and some Monday so we want to make the most of our time. We are considering Sat in Basel (markets, old town). Sunday we are considering the train to Lucerne - boat - Mt Rigis - return to Basel if the weather is okay. If not, perhaps the train from Lucerne to Interlaken & return to Basel. Any other day trips you would suggest? We are thinking that we stay in Basel to avoid the difficulties of luggage and "travel light" during the days. We are into the scenery but DH can't do too much walking so we thought these choices would give us some scenery and mix in a little of the "old town" atmosphere. We would love suggestions on weather and itinerary and how scenic this first end of the Golden Pass line is. It looks like the trains with the best windows, etc. are from Interlaken and on but it's hard to tell. Any and all suggestions for itineraries would be welcome as most online info we are finding is for summer hiking or true winter activities. Many choices end in October. Thanks.
