Cheap eats and drinks in Geneva

Hi, I will be in Geneva for a day in August, can anyone help me with some reasonably priced cafes, bars or takeaways. A place with a view would be an added bonus.

Many thanks

The Globus Food Hall has some nice things - there is a café there with table service. The Manora restaurant at the Manor store on rue Coutance (other side of the lake from Globus) is a self service cafeteria with excellent, freshly made food at very reasonable prices.

Also look for "plats du jour" - dishes of the day - advertised outside many restaurants. You get a main dish for 17-20frs and often a 2 or 3 course "menu" for under 25frs. Not including wine etc.

Remember too that restaurant (and bar/café etc) menu prices incude service and tax. What you see is what you pay essentially. If service is particularly nice - with a smile and attention - leave a franc or two. Nothing is required though.
