Trainbook, yes and yes. Do take even a couple of hours, Lucerne is not that big and it's not a long walk over the river to the Old town, go and see the dying lion monument and then walk back back to the old town and finish off your tour by crossing the Chapel bridge on your way back to the station. There is a tourist office in the station, by platform 1 get a map there and ask them directions to the monument and the luggage lockers are at the other end of the station by platforms 12 & 13. Then take the Brunig Line trains from these platforms to Interlaken Ost, the right station for Laturbrunnen and Murren.
