Free car parking in Grindelwald

We are arriving for a week next month. We would like to take a car there to give us maximum flexibility.

Are there any free parking spaces near the Sunstar hotel to park for free?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, if you are an early bird, then you are right. And do you really travel with your own ski gears (skis, shoes, poles) from London?

If not, you could just take along the ski clothes within a handbag along with the few items neccessary for the night.

The next day you drive together with your hotel's porter in your ski dress to the train station and grab your skis, ski shoes and poles there. Then you change your normal with the ski shoes and hand the normal ones to the hotel's porter. The porter takes the rest of your bagagge to the hotel. You, however, hop on the next train 10:17 leaving Grindelwald train station and arrive at 10:49 on the slopes at Kleine Scheidegg.

The rest of your agge could be grabed by you after the ski day, or you ask the hotel to do it for you.

And BTW for somebody who is used to stay at luxury hotels should really not ask for the saving of the car park costs! (sigh!)

Didn't know the Sunstar was luxury, but thanks for the compliment.

Don't get excited. It's nice but I wouldn't call it luxury.

But a car is considered an indulgence in Switzerland - fairly so given the compactness of the villages and the excellent public transport. So don't expect sympathy about parking charges for a foreigner. If you choose to drive (and I understand your decision), you have to suck up these things to enjoy your vacation. Sometimes, the British think being charged to park by a hotel is unfair. Not so in Switzerland.
