From interlaken to grindelwald and Jongfraujoch

hi,

10 of us are going to interlaken from Geneva at 2nd of April. We will be staying at Interlaken and plan to go to Grindelwald and Jongfraujoch in 1 day.

We found the rail tickets are costly and looking for alternatives. Is it better if we have a Swiss Pass or Swiss card? Can we get to Jongfraujoch with a Swiss Pass?

suggestions are appreciated.

If you are only going to be there for one day the various passes will probably not be cost effective. They give you a 50% discount on the Jungfraujoch trip above Wengen.

Since you have a group of ten did you consider the group rates? It might be the least expensive way to do it.

The group rates are listed on the www.jungfraubahn.ch site.

Consider the Lauterbrunnen Valley nearby and go up the Schilthorn instead of Jungfraujoch:

Yes, you can get to the Jungfrau with a Swiss Pass, but the Swiss Pass only covers the full train fare as far as Wengen (or Grindelwald, depending on your route). From Wengen or Grindelwald, the Swiss Pass covers the Jungfrau Railway at 50% off. If you decide to go with the Swiss Pass (good for 3, 7, 10 or 15 consecutive days) be sure to purchase the SaverPass, as it's cheaper for two or more people traveling together.

There are discounts for taking the very first train from Interlaken or Grindelwald up to the Jungfrau, so you might look into that as well.

The Half Fare card will cover the entire route at 50% off. The Half Fare card is 99 CHF per person.

There's also a regional pass for just the Berner Oberland, but I'm not familiar with it. Suggest you do some research.

If you are doing quite a bit of traveling by train, the passes might save you some money, but if you're only spending ONE day on the train (Jungfrau) and traveling the rest of the time by car, the passes will not be of much help.

Correction - the Swiss Pass is good for 4, 8, 15, 22 or 30 consecutive days.

Hi melody1219,

About the local passes -- There are two for the area, the Jungfraubahn Pass and the Oberland Regiopass. However, both are valid only May-October, so unfortunately won't be any help to you.

Good luck with your planning!

Hi all,

we are going to geneva for 6 days, but would spend only a day at interlaken, grindelwald and jungfraujoch. It's kinda rush but hopefully could make it.

Can we get the ticket to from grindelwald to jungfraujoch at grindelwald?or we have to make an online group reservation? i've tried, but it needs an username and passowrd..

You can certainly just turn up and buy individual tickets. But try this email address info@jungfrau.ch, think they would be able to say for definate for groups.
