Lauterbrunnen and Zurich Itinerary

Hi,

Me and my wife are travelling from Paris to Zurich on 19th August, 2014 and we will be heading to Lauterbrunnen the same day.

If we buy a Swiss Pass, will the pass cover the travel from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen for free?

On 20th Aug, we are planning to see the nearby areas of Lauterbrunnen viz. Gimmelwald, Murren and Wengen.

Will the Swiss Pass cover travelling in this region (trams, rails etc..)?

21st August-travel to Jungfraouch. What is the route from Lauterbrunnen and how much can we save on this trip if we bought a Swiss Pass?

22nd August-Travel to Zurich. We also wanted to do the Golden Pass line from Interlaken to Lucerne. How much should the tickets cost and will the Swiss Pass be valid for the Golden Pass line?

23rd August- Zurich to Mt Titlis. How much should the tickets cost for entire route and what all will the Swiss Pass cover?

We are not sure if we should buy a Swiss Pass or any other pass for our itinerary.

Kindly advise on which pass should we go for a hassle free and budget trip?

Many thanks in advance!!

Swiss Pass will cover your trip to Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and Muerren.

Lauterbrunnen to Jungfrauhoch via Wengen.

25 percent discount from Wengen to Jungfrauhoch.

Most trains are included on Swiss Pass including at "Golden Pass" route.

Titlis, abt 50 percent discount with Swiss Pass.

I suggest you look at the http://www.swisstravelsystem.com/en/home.html

website in order to determine which train pass you might benefit from.

www.sbb.ch for Swiss trains.

Put in your destinations and you will get a price. This is the half fare, default price. The full fare is double that amount. Calculate your fares and compare the prices of individual tickets and the cost of the various passes. You might also want to look at a half fare pass...which basically gives you half fares on all trains, ferries and Mt. Excursions for 120sfs. However, you need to do the Math!

Given your time frame, you might want to consider staying in one area, like Lucerne and making that your base. Could do day trip to Titlis from there. Lots to do in this region!

Good Luck and Gute Reise!

Will you be traveling from Paris to Zurich by rail? If you are it doesn't seem to make sense to go all the way to Zurich then turn around and go back to Lauterbrunnen. I would travel by train from Paris to Basil then from Basil to Lauterbrunnen. The Basil to Lauterbrunnen part will be covered by your pass and you will save a lot of time.

In addition to the suggestions already given, would suggest that you leave out Zurich in your itinerary from 22nd to 23rd. Even if you are flying out of Zurich, it will be better if you stay in Lucerne. You can take a day trip to Titlis form there itself.

On the day of the flight, come to Zurich Airport rail station straight from Lucerne and fly out from the airport.

Since, you stay in Switzerland is for only 5 days, suggest you restrict yourself to maximum of two bases : Lucerne and any of the villages near Interlaken. If you have already selected Lauterbrunnen, then it's a nice place to stay in. Hopefully, you will see the flowers in full bloom in the valley..

Are warm clothes available as rentals in Jungfrauch and Mt Titlis? We are planning to see both the places but are not sure if we should take our own clothes or take it on a rental basis? Also, would appreciate if someone can throw some light on approx cost on taking warm clothes on rental basis?
