New years in Murren

Hi we wanted to book accom in Murren for 4 nights which fell over the new year, we have since been told by the hotel where we wanted to stay that the minimum we can stay is 7 nights. Okayyyy yes maybe that's possible for us, but now we are worried that it may be to long in the one place.

Can anyone advise us if we would have enough to do for 7 nights in Murren. It's a family of 6, grandparents, (parents and children)

Hope some one can help thanks

Murren is a ski center so most all activities will be oriented around around the winter sports scene. If all in your party are into skiing, skating, sleding, winter walking etc. there should be plenty to do.

Murren is a small, quiet traffic free village in an unbelievable setting. Things to do during the day for non- skiers include a trip to the Schilthorn Restaurant (James Bond Movie Set) and a trip over to Wengen and up to the Jungraujoch (highest rail station in Europe through the Eiger). Most people go to Murren for the peaceful mountain ambience. Enjoy!

Agree with staying in one place. Easy to get from one place to the other. Beautiful any time of the year. Have a great trip.

Just one final tip! Take the time to travel DOWN on the Schilthorn cable car to the valley floor. Take the Grandkids up the front and listen to their screams (and those of the adults) as you go from 30 feet above snow covered meadows to straight off a 2000ft cliff. Superb!!!!!!

Murren is a tiny town but it is on the edge of an amazing cliff and the scenery is amazing. I was only there for 2 nights but I found myself longing for more time there. 7 days would be amazing. Take the time to appreciate the scenery, enjoy some winter sports and explore the Bernese Oberland. Some easy side trips include...

Gimmelwald (just a bunch of cows here but beautiful sights)

Lauterbrunnen Valley (great waterfalls coming off of the sheer cliffs)

Schilthorn (can have breakfast at the revolving restaurant)

Grindlewald (very different from Gimmelwald)

Wegen

Interlaken

Enjoy!
