Light snow year but has been chilly with occaisional showers/snow in the area the past couple of weeks.

You can get a 10 day weather outlook on weather.com:

weather.com/outlook/…

You can also look at webcams for the region:

Wengen:

bildersammlung.ch/wengen-webcam-live-wetter-…

Mannlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, Jungfraujoch, and First at jungfrau.ch/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-138/

You should always bring multiple light layers and a weatherproof shell, ideally one with a hood to minimize need for umbrellas.

We are in Wengen at the moment and the weather has pretty disappointng this year. It's snowing right now and it has been wet and cold for the last three weeks in the whole valley. Very gray. Hoping things will clear up but the forcasters don't seem to have much luck predicting what's going to happen and when.

we were in Wengen 7th to 15th may and while the weather was not what we hoped for. lots of cloud and we did not see the mountains all at once, just little pecks to give you and idea of what you were missing. however this did not stop us from having a lovely time, we just got out everyday and did something. in fact we hardly got rained on, but we did find that it started to rained most afternoons between 3 and 4pm but we were home by then. remember that bad weather is just you not having the right clothing.

In the Alps, no weather forecast for more than a day or maybe two days in advance is reliable anyway.

A good weather dance will be a good idea, though ;-)

On other trips to Wengen , whenever we had a spot of not-so- nice weather (which wasn't often), we went to Trummelbach falls, rode the boat at Interlaken , went to Ballenberg, etc....but this is the first trip for our son and daughter-in-law ,after hearing about Wengen all these years, and they're going to get mighty tired of hearing us say : "Honest! There really ARE the most glorious snow capped Alps behind those clouds!!" So... I'm dancing as fast as I can! Thanks to everyone for your words of wisdom, and if you are so inclined, a little good- weather-in-Wengen dance for us couldn't hurt.

Hi

Is Wengen in July slightly more likely to have decent weather? Less rainy, less cold? This is middly-July. thanks.

Actually, the nicest weather I have experienced in the Alps is in late September and October. In July, it may be warmer but the warmth and humidity leads in the mountains to frequent local thunderstorms and shower in the afternoon, even if the lowlands are sunny.

This year has been exceptionally cold and rainy so far, with no signs that it would relent.
