Hi. Family of 4 (2 teens) from Houston, Texas arriving in Davos via train from Zurich on a Saturday afternoon in just a few weeks. We will be arriving very tired after being in route ~24 hours - staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. We will be leaving Davos on Monday mid-day to take the train to our next stop (Lucerne).
Does anyone have recommendations for Saturday afternoon/night until we crash? Assuming we will get up and have breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning, we have the entire day to fill on Sunday. We plan to leave by noon or before on Monday to take the train to Lucerne. Any suggestions are welcome. The one thing that a couple of people have recommended is to take the shuttle to the funicular to hike at the Schatzalp (is this a mountain or a general area?). Is this process forthright and is it fairly easy hiking? We are in good shape, but are planning to bring good running shoes for hiking instead of hiking boots. How long would this excursion take, and what are other things we should do on Sunday. Are any things closed? Also, what about for a few hours on Monday morning (or should we head to Lucerne earlier)? We are spending 8 days in CH, 2 each in Davos, Lucerne, Zermatt & Geneva so are having to pick and choose carefully, as we will be spending a lot of time on trains. Also, we will have Swiss Passes, so anything included in that cost would be great. Open to all suggestions! Thanks in advance for any "must-sees" in Davos! Rick Steves is usually my "go-to" expert, but he only mentions Davos in passing in his book.
