What trains/cable cars/funiculars/boats/gondolas w/pass

We'll be spending a few days in St. Moriz, mostly is already planned out with activites, and will also be going to Zermatt for 2 days. There is a dizzing amount of lifts, trains, trolleys, etc., and I'm wondering if there is an easy was to identify which ones will work with the Swiss Pass. We will also be taking a train up to Zurich to catch our flight home, and are looking at taking a train from

St. Moritz to the Swarovski museum in Innsbruck.

ANY and ALL comments are apprieciated!!!

Also, because our schedule is tight, would you recommend booking our Glacier Express ticket now already (Need to book it for 8/14/14)?

With two or more nights, most of the Hotels will offer you a complimentary pass for mountain cablecars and local Transport, valid for ALL the cablecars.

The Swiss Pass gives a 50 percent discount on all lifts in Zermatt.

You need to take the Train to Innsbruck for the Swarovski Museum. The train ride to Innsbruck takes abt. 5 hours. From St. Moritz you will change trains in Chur, then Sargans. See the SBB.ch website for swiss train schedule. Actually the Museum is not in Innsbruck it is in a town called Wattens. It is located abt 12 km east of Innsbruck. When I studied in Innsbruck I lived not far from the Museum. You can pick up a shuttle bus from The Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof they run a shuttle bus every two hours and will transport you there and back.

In Zermatt do look at doing the Gornergrat, it leaves from just beside the train station

Does it matter how you book your hotel to get this pass?

For example have hotel booked thru Booking.com and hotel is on list for free passes. Will we still be able to get?

Thanks,

Casa

We also booked through booking.com for two nights, but with a hotel that says they offer the pass.

It was great we were there last week and went up all the mountains and used the buses extensively.

Great-ours is listed on the web site of hotels using pass.

Any special one you would recommend? We really only have one full day in St. Moritz as arriving later on one day and leaving fairly early when we leave.

Thanks

There is a lift (cog wheel train) that leaves right from the town centre -Corviglia

Your travel up in a cog wheel train then can go up highter to a cafe and restraunt.

This is the one we liked the best.

While Corviglia and Piz Nair is a good excursion, especially if you want some hiking as well, with just one day, meaning just the one excursion and with the complimentary pass (I hope you choose a hotel offering public transport as well) I would go for Diavolezza instead. This is a real high-mountain experience - you are in the middle of glaciers, snow, rocks and peaks instead of seeing them from a distance - and in addition along the famous Bernina railway line, so you have already a taste of the famous Bernina Express going there. And another plus is you can have another stop at Morteratsch if you want for a short hike into the valley towards the glacier. There you could also have a look at the alp cheese-making and have a brunch of alp cheese. This would make for a wonderful day full of special moments and IMO would be more than enough to pack into your one and only day in the area (unless you have not enough with this and you would want to add sunset-dinner on Muottas Muragl, another very special place to be)
