We happened to be in Lausanne on midsummers day , and were delighted by the town wide music celebration . All types of music were included - classical , with school choirs and orchestras, worldwide, rock , pop , brass bands , folk , gospel etc, at many venues around the town- from shopping malls, churches, hospital foyers, medieval squares, museums and about 8 big purpose built stages across the town .
Acts changed hourly , and there were lots of food stalls , and wine and beer available .
The swiss have these things sussed so well ! At the start of the night you pay a deposit on a rigid plastic glass ( not sure of the material ! ) , then you get it filled up as you want , and get your deposit back at the end of the night =no rubbish dropped !
THis was a wonderful night out - We wandered around the town for hours , On our way back to our hotel , We heard beautifu saxophone and organ music coming from the church at St Francois , and wandered in to sit on the floor and listen . Beautiful !
I would highly remommend a visit to Lausanne for this wonderful day !
