Chocolate and Cheese factory

Hi,

In a bit of a pickle, Will be in Montreux for 2 nights from 4-6 September main reason to go to the Chocolate and Cheese factory. Have just noticed that the chocolate and cheese train doesn't run on Fridays in September. Is there a cheaper way of still doing this by ourselves ? as this was the main reason for going to Montreux.....oops ... I have tried looking for point to point tickets thinking this might be the best option but it still works out at roughly CHF115 / AUD136, not sure if this sounds right.

Thanking anyone in advance.

Cheers

Hi cat21a,

You don't have to be in a " Chocolate & Cheese " pickle.

In fact, the Chocolate train is a good marketing ploy ( name evokes childhood fantasies ) but at a steep price of nearby 100 CHF.

The regular trains on this route Montreux - Broc Fabrique - Gruyeres - Montreux should cost you less than 50CHF. You also get to travel and stop anywhere enroute at your own pace. Perhaps, your calculations are not correct.Check again on this site - sbb.ch/en

Have fun.

You need to take the normal MOB or Goldenpass line (same thing!) train to MONTBOVON and then change there for Gruyères. The train that takes you to Gruyères will take you on to Broc Fabrique.

If you want to come back a different way go on to Bulle and change there for Lausanne. Then come back to Montreux from Lausanne.

IF you have a Swiss pass then it will cover all the trains AND entrances to the Cheese and Chocolate Factories. "Chocolate Train" is, as Arvind says, a marketing device... and it also means you cannot set your own pace at all. You have to travel with the group...
