Zurich card - travel from Zurich to Mt. Rigi

Hi all,

I am planning to do a day trip from Zurich to. Mt. Rigi.

My route will probably be :

Zurich to Arth-Goldau by train. From there to Rigi by train.

And on my way back, I'll take train to Vitznau. From there, take a boat to Lucerne. From Lucerne, take a train back to Zurich.

My question is, what will be my best deal in terms of train/boat tickets? If I buy the 24hr Zurich card, is it worth it? From the SBB website, I don't quite understand the validity of the card in the zones I'll be traveling. Or should I just buy a single ticket for each train ride and boat ride?

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

Hi there,

The ZC page

zvv.ch/en/…zuerich-card.html

shows a map and if you study more closely all places you mention are WAY beyond the Zurich card area! After all they're close to Lucerne, 1 hour from Zurich. It's like expecting a Singapore MRT card to be valid up til and including Johor Bahru ;-)

Hence if you don't have any Swiss Travel System pass-card for the larger context of your holiday, it's single tickets for this trip...

All the best,

I was reading this post with interest, as plan on doing the same trip in August, and was wondering on how much, single tickets would cost for this trip, per adult ?

Thanks
