I am planning on a European holiday later this year. One of the things I am planning to do is to take a train from Amsterdam to Paris and from there on to Rome, probably through Switzerland, and then through parts of Germany as well.
At the moment, the Eurail Global Pass seems like it might offer some good value. One thing I don't really understand is how Thalys trains work with the Eurail.
On the big map pdf on the website it seems to refer to pretty high surcharges on the Thalys trains. Can anyone explain to me how this would work specifically for traveling from Amsterdam (via Brussels I assume) to Paris.
Furthermore, on the TGV from Paris to Milan it also seems like a high surcharge is charged. Anyone who can shed some light on this?
