authentic windmills and gifts

Suggestions for places to see authentic windmills and purchase products of the Netherlands? We will have 3-4 days in Amsterdam arriving on 4/24 . We will be visiting the Keukenhof for sure. Should we take the canal trip?

We leave Amsterdam for Bruges for 2 days and would also like a suggestions for one more 2 day trip to before we head home to the US. Germany ? so any suggestions are welcome. We will be traveling by train.

My husband and I travel alone and are in our 60's so walking is good- bikes/ hikes not so much! We have been to several other European countries and find we like some of the smaller less crowded places the best.

Kinderdijk is a must when looking for windmills. This is the most famous world heritage location for windmills. It's a bit long trip from Amsterdam though. You first have to go to Rotterdam and from there the cheapest and fastest option is the boat (Waterbus). You can also take bus 90 from the Lombardijen trainstation but the bus is much more expensive, and the boat is much nicer. Downpoint is that the boat is a 25 minute walk from the Rotterdam Central Station, or 10 minute tramride.

A visit to Kinderdijk starting from Amsterdam is nice to combine with a visit to Rotterdam, Delft or even Dordrecht.
