Bidding on a 4 star in the center

The first thing I see as I travel around to several different forums and from emails from friends? The NH Carlton is in play. More so than the NH Amsterdam Centre.....at least right now with recent bids.

And for the summer months ahead it looks like the price point is somewhere around $62 or $63 USD for the lowest winning bid.

July 22-26 $65 first bid. Carlton

July 8-10 $63. First try at $61 failed. Carlton

August 11-13 $69 which was a counter offer. Carlton

July 21-27 $63 first bid Carlton

There may be other 4's in play. But if so they are not being posted.

I'm staying at the Carlton next week on a PL bid. I'll report back once I have done.

I have just checked the NH website for the price of the Carlton next week when I´m there. The same rooms that I got for $64 each (About 60 euro after tax and charges) now cost 187 euro each.

That is some result!

You know Brian 187 euros does not sound all that bad when you say it. But $260 USD sure does.

So two rooms for a total of $128 USD via PL vs one room booked direct from the hotel for $260 USD a night.

All I can say is I am glad more people do not come to these threads. We need those folks willing to pay 4x+ more for a room. The hotels would never make a go on us alone.

I stayed in the Carlton on my last trip, off a NYOP bid. I couldn't fault it and the location is very good too. I'm in the Carlton again in a fortnight. Both times have cost me about £40-£45 per night :)

Congrats to those who found a good deal :)

Could you let me know the website I should visit if I want to enter the bidding process?

I am traveling to Europe from late June till early August.

I guess the price range is the following (in US dollars):

4 stars $65

3 stars $40

Is that correct?

In Amsterdam, as opposed to possibly other cities, 3 star hotels really do not work all that well. Hardly any action at all. I have not seen a 3 come up in well over a year now.

In Amsterdam its 4's and/or 5's you would want to bid on. Yes around $65 (maybe lower) to start on a 4 and somewhere between $65 and $75 as a start for a 5. That may be to low for a 5. If so just raise your bid a dollar or 3 every time you bid until you get a winner.

But its your money. You need to decide how much. Spend some time reading these threads. Be informed when you bid.

For bidding you can go directly to www.priceline.com

NH Amsterdam Centre, $70, September 29 - October 2nd.

After bidding everyday for 3 weeks I finally got a reasonable counter offer which I did not take but lowered my bid using a free re-bid.

My original bid was $62, they countered with $ 79 and I rebid at $70.

Previous bid offers on other days were over $90 and since I had time to play, I just continued to try each day. I probably could have continued to bid and gotten a lower amount but I am pleased with the amount and the hotel. I also tried 5 stars but all of the counter offers for the last 3 weeks for this time period were $132 or more. Thanks for all of the help from the board.
