Bidding on a 5 star in the centrum

Traveling around the forums the most recent 5's being posted for winning bids......the Kras.

July 20-22 $75-Kras

Sept 3-6 $75-Kras

You might be able to get them a little bit cheaper. I would at least try.

Next week it might be some other 5 star in play.

Just got a room at NH Carlton Amsterdamn for £40.00 from Aug 3-5. Total price £94

1)1st time £35, 4 and 5 star - not accepted

2)raised bid to £40.00 and included 3 star, bid accepted

Good deal, yes?

Good deal? A bid of $65-$66 a night for that hotel?

You did very well. We have had several PL bidders stay there recently. Read just about any hotel related thread we have here on the 1st or 2nd page or so. You should find more than a few comments about the Carlton.

Did you check the lowest rate you can get directly from that hotel for those nights? : )

It looks like Southland 123 got a good deal

August 8-10 "Two" rooms

$75 USD---80USD---$83 USD----got a winner at $85

NH Krasnapolsky

And then: "Three" rooms August 10-17

$75 USD---$80 USD---A winner at $85

They got the Kras again

Lowest rates from the hotel during that period----they average 188 euros a night per room or $269 USD

Just won the Kras.

August 9, 1 night.

Offered $70, rejected, offered at $96.

Did free rebid at $75, but that was declined.

Tried again at priceline.co.uk with a different credit card, offered £45 (=$76), was offered £51 (=$86), so countered at £48 (= $81). Accepted.

Interestingly the email confirmation came through showing $80, rather than the £48 ($81) I bid. But then the dollar did weaken yesterday, so maybe they have a slightly old exchange rate.

Some of the hotel service costs are amazing:

http://www.hotels.nl/amsterdam/krasnapolsky/

€50/day for parking - must be the most expensive parking in the world

€85/day for extra bed

Any ideas about the cost for breakfast?

Yeah that's a good deal at the Kras. Parking in central Amsterdam, especially there is officially the most expensive in the world apparently. Just don't bring a car, its completely unecessary.

I think brakfast there will run to around 25 euros or more but you can get a full English at one of the closeby Irish bars for under 10 euros and there's loads of little places for sandwiches etc.

McDonalds is also just over the road if that's your kinda thing.

You should be able to bid from Brazil. Certainly people from all over the globe have managed to.

You'll find it easier to register and use the http://www.priceline.co.uk site than the US one although you'll have to bid in £ rather than $. They both access the same database.
