Which hotel to stay at -- Savoy or CitizenM Amsterdam city?

We will be in Amsterdam at the end of this month -- and we need opinions on which one to stay at - either Savoy or CitizenM Amsterdam city. We will be Amsterdam for four days and we are two adults plus a small child (three years old).

Our priorities are

(1) Safe location

(2) Clean hotel

(3) Accessible to the city centre

We read the reviews of both hotels and it looks like there are good points and "bad" points to both so that there is not an obvious choice. We were thinking about the CitizenM, given the high ratings on Trip Advisor and recommendation on Frommers, however, it "seems" like it may be a little too modern for our young family.

Having a large hotel room that fits an extra cot or bed is NOT a "must have" -- we can live with the three of us sharing a large bed if necessary.

As an aside, although I would have preferred a hotel that is closer to the city centre and main train station, this was not possible, given the cost and availability -- so the Savoy and CitizenM Amsterdam city are the alternatives that I am left with.

Any input or suggestions are appreciated.
