2 nights in Amsterdam

Arriving by plane early this Sat am, departing Monday evening.I am sure this has been asked before but are there any 'must do's' please? We shall go on a canal trip, but are happy just to wander around...museums if it rains, sightseeing if it is fine.

We had hoped to stay in a quaint B & B but 20+ emails later every one is full, so We shall have to resort to our normal standby of an anonymous large Priceline hotel!

Thanks for any recommendations.

Read "What can I see and do in Amsterdam?" on the Top Questions on the right side of this page. As far as a PL hotel, you may be in for a rude awakening. Summer has been very hard to score a winning bid if you have not done so.

Thats right steveftw...

We always like to leave it late, sometimes booking holidays the night before we fly then driving 6 hours overnight to London and collecting our tickets at the airport.

It makes life more interesting don't you think?

Probably too stressful for many people though, and this way we never look forward to holidays, so our expectations are never shattered!

I've done it here in the States several times. But I have been following winning bids for Amsterdam and they have been hard to come by for weekend stays this summer. Good luck, you'll need it!

Peace,

Balou

Well, we got somewhere to stay...no winning bids on Priceline but a B & B on the outskirts of the city centre...but no breakfast! Nice view across a small park & canal in a residential area, lovely host with lots of advice, rooftop terrace for self catering breakfast (if it stops raining) so all worked out ok.

Interesting for one is having to take a crappy, over priced hotel, far out from the centre for another.

As busy and as expensive as this summer has been doing your homework early and then acting is the smart thing to do.

Hope you ended up with a great place. But especially this summer-----not the best way to go IMO.
