Ferries,Water Taxis ,etc to travel to Bruges,Belguim

Hello all. Are there any river ferries or taxis or barges or boats that you can pay to take you down river- one way- not an overnight "cruise"- just a way to get from Amsterdam to Bruges/Ghent instead of car or train?

Thinking this trip through w/ all posibilities!

thanks

well, im sure you know this but...brugges is at least 3.5 hours by car if traffic is good..i drove on an early sat morning...so by barge/boat ( if it can be done) what are you looking at? 12 hour cruise or more?

There are no regular ferries or barges whcih will do this only specialised companies such as this www.bargecompany.com/MARJORIEllindex.htm but they cost $$ and are more designed as a 2 week vacation kind of thing.

Ronaldo! You seem to have a lot of knowledge with regards to Amsterdam!

Thank you for sharing it.

A question.... if you had your chioce between staying at Hotel Estherea, Convent Hotel or Ambassade Hotel, which would you choose?

They are all getting $$ because it will be tulip time when I come so really it is what is the best location.

Looking forward to hearing from you again!

They are all within a few mins walk of each other, the Convent is closest to trams as they run past the door and can be quite loud!

The other hotels are on a canal so your Amsterdam experiance should be a little more peaceful. The Ambassade looks the most elegant of them

Tulip Tours has an 8-day "Bike + Boat Tour" from Bruges to Amsterdam or back. The 2012 dates are not yet published, but this year, their tours took place in April and May: tripsite.com/bike-boat/…

Thank you for the info-

I should have been clearer...I'm just looking for a 1 way trip, in one day ,from Amsterdam to Bruges-I thought it would be a beautifully scenic way to get there instead of by train.

FYI- there is also a tulip time river cruise:7 nights : www.affordabletours.com
