Reypenaer is quite a good place for tasting. The only other way is to go to a cheese shop or market stall and ask to taste a few.

When we are in Amsterdam, we stay on a houseboat and purchase all of our groceries @ the local shops. Our favorite cheese shop is de Kaaskamer, located at Runstraat 7 in the "Nine Streets" area of the city center. The staff are incredibly well versed, and suggested many new cheeses to us. They couldn't be more generous with offering us samples! The shop itself is something to be seen (and smelled), and I think you'd have a great time selecting cheeses from them!

Thanks for the suggestion we had not thought about buying just wanted to taste. We are on a tour and space is limited and luggage is limited. but we'll look for it.

As to Reypenaer are reservations needed in advance or can you call that day?

Thank you

Last trip I tasted some Cheese at I think the Grey Area.

Nice smooth taste. A bit of a kick. Highly recommended.

No free samples this being the Grey Area and all.

Thats what they say on TA and you have to pay for the privilage. A little wine, cheese and port. liquor and you keep the glass and some cheese for a little more. sounds like a nice way to kill an hour!

Reypenaer is a fantastic cheese, especially the 2 year old :-) I always have some in my fridge, in fact I use it instead of Parmesan!

You can buy it in their shop vacuum packed so it is better for traveling and they should give a loyalty/discount card for use immediately.

It's always on my must visit list when I go the the DAM.
