Romantic / Couples Ideas Amsterdam

Hi

Just wondered what couples have experienced which is romantic in amsterdam. Going in June, so any special sights / walks / events / venues appreciated.

A canal cruise is probably a classic, but I found just walking along them more intimate. The light that are mirrired to the water are fabulous. I'd start somewhere south and head west along Prinsengracht or Kaisersgracht.

Hello. A few years ago for a special Christmas present for my wife I purchased tickets for a candlelight canal boat ride which we took on Christmas Eve. She still talks about it. Very romantic. Hope this helps, and enjoy.

An evening wine and cheese cruise can be very romantic. Many of the bridges are lit at night and it creates a very special and unique atmosphere.

Personally I'd skip on a dinner cruise. They tend to be expensive and the food is mediocre.

Which one did you go for, as this sounds ideal for me and my girlfriend :)

Hello. If you are asking me, we did the wine and cheese cruise. We had dinner earlier, and had dessert after we got back to our hotel. Hope this helps, and do enjoy.

I would recommend the cheese and wine cruise that boards on rokin, that was far better than the tui one we did on our anniversary last year; the Tui one was nicely presented but not much cheese had to ask for a secnd drink, and not romantic as they have large pre-booked groups, which makes for lack of romance and loud people having a laugh.

I think the one on rokin was roderji, but this had lots of wine, lots of cheese (in bowls, and they were refilled frequantly, could eat as much as we wanted) the atmosphere was pleasant, good guide and fun as well as romantic - but not party central.

Hope you have a good time

we also found a meal at Sea Palace was quite romantic - hubby just reminded me and asked why I hadnt already recommended it; request a window seat for a lovely view accross the water especially at dusk, as night falls.

Hello again. The tour company we took was the one near Centraal Station, not the one by the casino. And we too ate at the Sea Palace, and were told that a large group was coming so all the window tables were reserved. We were there almost 2 hours, and the group never arrived. My wife and still joke about whether they are there yet. We thought the food was OK, but nothing special. Hope this helps, and enjoy.

there are several near centraal station, lovers being the nearest to the station and tui opposite on the main road side of the station area, Tui are the ones we had a bad experiance with, the best we had was on Rokin, I think it was through roderji, not been on one near the casino so cant comment on that one, sorry.

Like I say, with Sea Palace, if you book in advance, they usually honour bookings for window view, we found the food quite nice but the who experience was wonderful, but that was our impression, everyone experiences are different. What I would say is that we have been back there several times since - we love the lunch time dim sum menu - each time they have been very nice and we have managed to get window views on most, but not all, occasions and this despite it being very difficult to accommodate my wheelchair on the window seat area, due to steps etc.,.

We also like the walk along brouwersgracht, with the many other canals coming off this and the narrow buildings and general ambiance, again, each to their own and sometimes just the middle of a crowded cafe, with a shared joke or intimate whisper coats ones memories through a rose tint.

I am sure you will have a lovely romantic time and enjoy your trip :-)
