Pretty well any one of the 1500+ pubs in Amsterdam will be showing the game. I'm not aware of any public screenings but that could just be my own ignorance when it comes to matters football related.
yes , every bar in town with a tv set..
Ok great, thanks for your help
There are plenty of Germans in town any time of year. You'll be fine anywhere.
If you are remotely worried your best bet may be to go into one of the many Irish pubs which are usually frequented by expats. That said I don't think you'll find many of them supporting Germany.
Thanks Brian! I was hoping you'd respond to this.
I've watched matches involving Germany many times over the years in Dutch bars, at the very worse you'll receive some light-hearted teasing. Its perfectly OK.
Netherlands v Germany is one of the greatest rivalries in world football. They really do detest each other. You're not in any danger but I wouldn't walk around town that day wearing a Germany shirt, singing German songs. You'll be leaving yourself open to abuse. Although I doubt if any of it would be intimidating.
The only German bar I know of in Amsterdam is Cafe Brecht on Weteringschans. It's mainly aimed at a arty/hipster crowd, but it's possible, likely even, that they will have a tv showing the game. It is the biggest game of the group stage after all. It's an interestingly decorated bar even if you're not watching the football.
On their website, it says they are showing the important matches:
That's perfect then... If you want to cheer on Germany in Amsterdam.
