Amsterdam to Brussels...confused

Hi

I am sorry to ask such a silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer with the power of goggle and trip advisor!

I have just gone to book 2 train tickets from Amsterdam to Brussels (about 3 months out...following advice to book train tickets as soon as you can), but the tickets were $182 first class or $116 second class from raileurope.com.au. I was of the understanding that this journey should cost less than this - am I using the wrong website or is this the correct amount for a trip from Amsterdam to Brussels.

Thanks for any advice you can provide :)

Try using

nshispeed.nl/en/…intercity-brussels

but it doesn't sound THAT unreasonable - although depending on dates and journey times, I'd have expected it to be cheaper than that.

What dates and times are you travelling?

And also try www.thalys.com. Sometimes they are cheaper and sometimes ns.

All the best,

Forget Rail Europe. Use the either the Belgian rail site or the tgv europe site

http://www.b-europe.com/Travel

http://www.tgv-europe.com/en/

Neither of which charge you a booking fee. 31st August is 2 days outside of the 12 week period where you can normally book. If you look on the 29th August you will see Thalys fares from €29 so just wait until Friday to bok. Simples!

Great, thanks everyone.

It appears the b-europe site is the best way to go and will save me some $$.

Thanks again :)

There is another option and that would be to use the IC (Intercity) instead of the Thalys. Travel time will be about an hour longer. However, ticket prices on the IC are fixed and can be bought at the station on day of travel. Also, no reservations are needed and you are not limited to traveling on a specific train.
