Transit Passes

We will be in Amsterdam for 4 days:

2 days local sightseeing

1 day trip to Waterland (bus ticket)

1 day trip to Zuiderzee museum (bus-train)

Then we are off to Belgium, returning to The Hague for 5 days of local transit, visiting Delft and maybe Rotterdam for day trips.

Is there one transit pass that covers both centers?

Should we look at getting an anonymous OV chipkaart at the airport on arrival or are we better to buy local multi day unlimited passes and bus/train tickets (day trips) as needed?

Thanks for your input.

Cheers!

No, Probably in your case the OV card might be worthwhile

For a multi-day pass in The Hague-area you need an OV Chipkaart to make it cheap. With the OV-Chipkaart (7,50€ for the card) you can buy a 1/2/3 day pass for 7/11/14€, otherwise it's 7.50€ each day, or buying single tickets. Those will get you in Delft too.

So, based on the things you will need in The Hague only you will save some money with the OV chip, since you can use it as pay-as-you-go card on your daytrips outside Amsterdam/The Hague+Delft. In Amsterdam you have to find out what's more economical, paying as you go, or some daytickets.

We are staying at Sloterkade 65-1, 1058 B&B Amsterdam. It looks like about a 30min. travel on Tram1 from central station in Amsterdam. We enjoy walking, weather permitting. Is this a walkable route? Length of time to cover? What about the major historical attractions, is it possible to walk the town or is a pass a better idea.

Thank You for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated!

Right next door to your B&B is Gent Aan De Schinkel, a very cozy spot.

You could walk but it will take a good while with luggage. At least an hour. I would take the tram.

Simply cross the small bridge and you are practically at Vondelpark. Or jump back on the 1 tram to Leidseplein.

You will enjoy.

If you need to catch a train you should go the other way to Lelylaan station, much quicker. Only 2 stops from Surinameplein and you can take the 17 or tram 1. You could walk also but it's not that pleasant a walk.

Thank You for the information. So it looks like we should try to get train/bus from Schiphol to Lelylaan station instead of central when we arrive.

Could also use Lelylaan station to go to Hoorn when visiting Zuiderzee.

Looks like we will also take advantage of close proximity of Vondelpark to get downtown.

Much appreciated!

Cheers!

Yep you can take a direct train from Lelylaan to Hoorn There is also a GVB office at Lelylaan where you can sort yourself out with an OV card. Much quicker that going to CS.
