inexpensive B and B near river cruise port

Going on a river cruise in late September (and I really should be back in school...) I need suggestions for an inexpensive B an B or small hotel near the river port or central station for one night-plan on seeing van Gogh museum and Anne Frank House that day

Can you put an amount to inexpensive? It makes it a lot easier to make suggestions. And the City Center is quite compact so no need to stay in the immediate area. That would also severely limit your choices

Budget for hotel???

Is this a single or a double room you are looking for?

Depending on your answer a B&B may or may not be your best choice price wise.

And what Balou said about location is spot on.

Pick the location and the hotel within the canal rings you think looks good. A place you are happy with.

No matter where you pick you will be close to,other things you want to see and do.

The center being so small

Go Blue?

Inexpensive hotel or B and B-no more than $200/night. Understand that Amsterdam is very walkable-my sister and I are active but definitely remember the 60's

Try the Double tree - close to the dock but also close to train lines. But for one night might be suitable.

Well then go Green. We are not haters here.

You have a decent budget.

Are you looking for a B&B? Or are you looking for a B&B because you think it most budget friendly?

It's May now so you might get lucky.

Take a look at the Hotel Brouwer. A cult fav 2 star that will be within budget that even has a lift. Small, popular, hard to get into.

Or you might think of bidding for a 4 star in a,close in location for well under your budget. We have a 201 page thread here just on 4 star bidding.

It's a popular option.

I doubt you could book a 4 or 5 star direct with your budget.

Maybe not even a 3 star.

A good 2 star like the Brouwer (although there are others as well) or an upscale 4 star through bidding.

Those would be my two choices with your budget.

OK I just read the recent reviews for the Brouwer.

Do not expect a visit from Bill Clinton if you do end up staying there.

I stayed there maybe 5 times and have never seen Bill.

Although it appears there is a good chance I stayed in the same room the former President stayed in. I have stayed in enough of them.
