Good locations for hotels in Amsterdam

We are a party of 4 and will be staying 3 nights in Amsterdam. We are arriving by train and don't know if there are reasonable hotels near the station. Otherwise should we be looking at locations closer to city attractions? Any help would be much appreciated.

What Balou said. And keep in mind that Central Station is at the *edge* of the centre, not in the middle.

Read that ,link.

It's a small safe easy to get around in center.

Virtually anywhere in the center will work for you.

No need to stay right next to the station. That greatly limits your hotel options.

Reasonable hotel? What we need is an idea of your budget for a hotel. And any special wants you have such as a lift or ensuite.
