Are eany restaurants within walking distance of Amsterdam Hilton. Thanks
Which of the three Hiltons?
Doesn't matter which Hilton. Yes.
Okay, a Google Maps trick that not everyone seems to know yet.
- Type in the address of your hotel.
- Click on the pin that Google Maps will place in the map.
- Click on 'Search nearby' (or similar term).
- Type 'restaurant' (which is the same word in Dutch).
- Click on Search.
Google Maps will now show you all the restaurants nearby. Obviously, this can be used for anything you ever search near any place (i.e. a pet shop near your house, or a laundrette or a bike rental place... use Google Translate to get the Dutch term if you're searching in the Netherlands).
Or try www.iens.nl/restaurants/amsterdam > click 'Kaart' for the map and find your hotel in it. The restaurants are marked already.
Restaurants near Hilton Apollolaan: www.iens.nl/restaurant/amsterdam/zuid?q=s
Near Hampton by Hilton, Amsterdam ArenA: www.iens.nl/restaurants/amsterdam/zuid-oost
And each hotel should have a restaurant too......
It's Hilton Apollolaan

There is only one Hilton Amsterdam, the other is a Doubletree by Hilton.
Anyway lots of eating places nearby. Walk down to the Cornelis Schuytplein, a few nice places ther. Or on the Beethovenstraat or walk to the Van Baerlestraat by the Museumplein and there are many places. If you venture just slightly further or take tram 16 a few stops into De Pijp there's a whole world of restaurants.
MrOther, oh I am sure that places rank higher when they pay money. They do rank higher in search results for it. So probably also in Maps. But it's convenient for finding specific shops, sports centres or other places when you just moved to a new neighbourhood (if you keep in mind that not 100% will show up because they may not have registered with that specific word at Google).
@Ronaldo there is also a Hampton by Hilton at ArenA. And a 4th Hilton in Amsterdam will be opening soon according to the Hilton website.Edited: 11 July 2013, 10:58
Yes I am aware of more than one proprety oprerated in the Amsterdam area by the Hilton group. There is a Waldorf Astoria scheduled for next year but I doubt you would refer to that as a Hilton or are we to call it the Waldorf Astoria by Hilton or the Intercontinental Amstel by Holiday Inn or the Andaz by Hyatt?
If you google Hilton Amsterdam or Amsterdam Hilton the one on the Apollolaan is the first three hits.
So I stand by the fact that there is only one Hilton Amsterdam.
Pfff who cares. Hilton website names them all.
So what's the difference, Ron? Are the Arena and Doubletree of less quality than the Apollolaan because they are not "real" Hiltons?
